President Scott Chabot called the Mount Clemens Rotary Club to order at 12:15 p.m.
Tom Welsh led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and national anthem and Mary Bednar led the club in “The Four-Way Test.” Vita Simmons gave the benediction.
The day’s menu featured breaded pork, bowtie pasta with vegetables, broccoli and cauliflower, tossed salad and cake slices.

*** President Scott noted that the annual budget was approved at last night’s club board meeting.
*** Everyone is invited to the Rotary Park Rededication on Wednesday, July 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. The event cost is $20. RSVP Sam Wireman at drsam@apexchiromi.com or purchase tickets online at: http://legacy.cmpl.org/larry/rotary/. Currently 60 people are signed up.

Speaking of things that were missing, Sam Wireman recognized birthdays and anniversaries with virtual flowers. Of note, a virtual black flower was requested by Nancy Dedenbach for hubby Ron.

Kim Jarvis was slighted by Gary Felts who reassigned the music selection duties to Christine LaTour. Selections included “Edelweiss” and “Vive Le Rotary.”

President Scott reminded Rotarians to bring lottery tickets, gift cards and bottles of wine for this September’s fundraiser.
Tom Davies was in charge of recognition. Tom Welsh, Christine LaTour, Nancy’s granddaughter Luca, Ken Steele, and Ellen Lysik all paid $3 for their “missing” phones that Tom happened to “FINE-d.” Vita Simmons paid $2 plus a bonus of $2 for “everything.” Gary Felts paid $2 for taking a walker on his cruise so that he could be first in line at the buffet plus $2 for getting new glasses that he was having trouble using to see. Sam Wireman paid $4 because while flowers can be virtual, fines cannot. Doug Norris and Sue Paynter have been in Canada for 10 weeks and were asked to split a $5 fine. Kim Jarvis and Louise Rallis were talking about McLaren Macomb’s golf outing with 288 golfers on August 8 and paid $3 each for being “tricked” into an advertisement. Ed Mastry bought a round of wine for Kathy Best and Stephanie Mirabile and bought a round of fines for $3.
SPEAKER President Scott introduced speaker and new club member Vita Simmons. Vita suffered a head injury at age 8 which shaped her drive to work hard in school and to be ambitious in her career pursuits. Although she is just 23 years old, she has already opened her own State Farm insurance agency and then moved on to bigger ambitions with her own brokerage firm, Vita Simmons Insurance, which started in 2021. She believes in helping to educate her clients to empower them to take control of their insurance needs. She offers a no-strings attached evaluation to potential clients and offers business and personal insurance from multiple carriers. She noted she was married too young (age 18) and then when she parted with her husband had 18 tango lessons left at Argentine Tango, so she has continued to dance on! Her hobbies also include jigsaw puzzles. She found our previous website via a Google search and believes that Rotary closely aligns with her personal values and ethics for running her business. She was asked several questions about pet insurance.

Eileen Heasley and her husband John founded A Vision for Clean Water in 2003.
She was executive director for 20 years and has now turned over the leadership to Nikki Beetsch
who is also a Rotarian and works for the World Health Organization and NSF in Ann Arbor.
Since 2003, A Vision for Clean Water has helped over 400,000 people receive clean water.
She will be talking about ways the Mt Clemens Rotary can become involved in a water project. Eileen has been member of Troy Rotary for 20 years, a past president,
assistant Governor and is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow.
She served as a Resource Person for Rotary’s Water Action Group until 2021.
In 2011, Eileen received Rotary International’s “Service Above Self Award”
which is given to only 150 Rotarians worldwide. Eileen is a retired kindergarten teacher and a strong believer in the Law of Attraction.
She enjoys travel, mentoring others and spending time
with her children and grandchildren. She will be sharing stories about how AVFCW
grew from helping one orphanage in Nepal
to providing water or sanitation to over 400,000 people worldwide.
