OPENING ACTIVITIES

Scott Chabot called the meeting to order promptly at 12:15 p.m. Ellen Lysik led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of the national anthem. Bill Davies forgot to count to four, but we eventually got through a rousing recitation of “The Four-Way Pledge.” Sarah Lee said a heartfelt pre-Memorial Day prayer before we proceeded to dine on grilled chicken breast, pasta primavera, green beans, salad and cake.
GUESTS & VISITORS

Several guests were in attendance and introduced by Scott: our guest speaker Michael Wickett and his friend John, Demitrius Sandridge, Jet Kilmer, Earl Stilson, Kathy Stucker, Art Ashley, Ken Pearl, Robert Bielat, Tom Bielat, Gary Sippl, and Art Ashley.

FLOWERS, BIRTHDAYS & ANNIVERSARIES

Nancy Dedenbach quickly reviewed all of the birthdays and anniversaries – none of the celebrants in attendance. Flowers were purchased by Gary Felts for Tom Davies and Tina; Scott purchased one for Vita Simmons, Louise and Kim purchased the rest for their McLaren guests.

There will be a club cleanup and awning installation at the YMCA on June 4.

Finally, we were all reminded of the fundraiser currently targeted for September 30.

SPEAKER
Michael Wickett took center stage at this point in the meeting. He shared with us his accomplished past, including his studies at Dale Carnegie, McGrane Global Centers, and Unity Church in Warren. He reminded us that he was voted one of the world’s best two speakers twice, along with Zig Ziglar.

Michael shared with us the need to develop self-confidence if we want to make the best use of the 18 billion brain cells we possess. We need to be willing to use our talents to achieve what is in our heart. He shared a couple of stories about people he met that were desperately seeking a life partner.

He counseled them to focus on improving themselves and when the time was right they would find the person meant to be with them. Both did! The take away from his talk was that you can achieve what you believe in, desire, and plan for.
Michael shared with us that he is inspired by Rotary due to our focus on giving back and hopes to become a regular speaker within the Rotary community.
